Student Mentorship

The mentorship program aims to connect students with mentors in small groups who are knowledgeable and passionate about their careers. We hope that students will come out of this experience with more confidence and knowledge on their future career paths. The Convergence Mentorship Program is a two part event. The first part is the Round Robin Event where mentors will present about themselves for 10 minutes followed by a short Q&A. Mentees will rotate to meet different mentors and explore different careers. After that, mentors will be paired with mentees interested in the mentors' career field. Mentors will meet with mentees as a private group in the following meetings to discuss about the career field, education required for the career field, and more.

Alyssa Chen

Hi everyone! My name is Alyssa and I am a first-year medical student at UBC. After graduating from high school, I spent a few years studying Microbiology and Immunology, before going into Pharmacy. It was during my explorations in Pharmacy that I decided to fully commit to Medicine. What I really like about Medicine is how it combines the art of building connections with the science of the human body. It is a field that requires life-long curiosity, perseverance and patience. If you are curious or interested in health care, I would love to help you in your passion finding journey! Although I have only just started my career in Medicine, I am excited to provide you with guidance and insight from my years of exploration.
