Convergence is a community organization with a goal to help high school students explore various passions and aid them in their journey of finding their own passion. We host monthly presentations delivered by members of the working community and current post-secondary students to secondary students across the Lower Mainland.

Olivia Phua - Human Resources
Olivia’s background is in Business and has worked primarily in the Mining and Banking industry. In her current role at BMO as Senior Manager, Communications and Change Management, Olivia leads a team in developing and implementing strategies and plans to integrate the recently acquired Bank of the West (US$16.3 billion deal) into BMO. She also oversees the department’s internal and external communications and engagement strategy, as well as the delivery and adoption of numerous digital projects and value-growth initiatives. Olivia also has strong HR, Branding, and M&A experience where she designed a full suite of HR programs, managed workforce optimization projects, led enterprise rebranding efforts, and contributed to numerous M&A due diligence processes. Outside of work, Olivia is an Instructor at a private college and a mentor to young HR professionals.
Olivia is a Chartered Professional in Human Resources, PROSCI Certified Change Practitioner, and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Simon Fraser University.

Speaker Presentations
Convergence invites speakers monthly to high schools to share their personal career journeys. Students attending these events can gain valuable knowledge and insight on various passions.
Mentorship
After speaker presentations, students who feel connected to particular speakers have the opportunity to follow-up with speakers through mentorship.
Day in the Life Tours
Students can explore the lives of different members of the community through films. These films provide a unique perspective into the behind-the-scenes of people living out their passions.
Volunteer and Shadowing
Some speakers will provide opportunities for students to step into their lives and volunteer or shadow.
